In one guise or another MBC has been running a senior’s Lunch Club since March 1975. Such longevity depends on many things, not least the coordinator and his or her team holding regular planning meetings.One such event took place this week when Gill Duffy invited the current Lunch Club kitchen team to an alfresco, socially distanced coffee morning. With tea and coffee flowing, with each team member bringing their own chair and I’m led to believe a woolly (just in case) what could possibly go wrong?
The answer of course is that no sooner had everyone got sat down, and despite it being mid August the weather decided to sulk – in other words it poured down.
Now before anyone asks why those present didn’t simply move inside, you need to know that Carole, Karen, Gill, Christine, Bela, Nicki and Susan are made of sterner stuff than that. No, for them it was simply a matter of Keep Calm, hoods and brollies up.
