One hall, many different uses

If there’s one room in MBC that’s had more different uses than any other it has to be the Church Hall.

On the 5th of June 1955, as the first part of the building to be finished and at different times of the day it served as our Sunday School room and our sanctuary.

Today (or rather when the schools go back and Stepping Stones gets going again) it will be their room – the room to which our toddlers come and bring their mums, dads, grandmas, granddads or for that matter anyone else they like.

In between it’s been a dance hall, in fact I remember playing bass guitar there in a beat group (The Leeders) in the mid 60’s. When Rewind was on it became the early home for Beacon. It’s where we held Church Meetings. It’s where our young people held their Prom. It’s been a creche. In fact it’s been just about everything.

If there’s one thing you can say for certain it’s that as these two pictures show our old Church Hall has certainly moved with the times. It’ll be interesting to see how it looks in another 70 odd years.
