Lunch Club learn all about the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service from a volunteer with first hand experience

Last week Lunch Club welcomed Tim to speak about the work of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. We learnt so much about the helicopters, the staff and the volunteers that enable the ambulances to keep flying and saving lives.

Perhaps one thing we didn’t all know, though, is that the YAA is a charity and as such receives no government funding which means they have to continually raise funds so that they can be available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Tim volunteers to give talks to raise awareness of the amazing work of the YAA mainly because not so long ago he himself had a cycling accident and was taken to hospital by helicopter – although, he openly confesses, the only bit of the helicopter he remembers seeing is the ceiling!

Many thanks to Rachel for passing this lovely little story on to us.
