This coming Sunday, not only a visit from BMS missionaries Andrea and Mark Hotchkin, but Communion and a shared lunch

This coming Sunday, that’s October the 20th, we will be joined in church by two of the BMS mission workers that MBC supports.

Following the service, which will also include Communion, Andrea and Mark will then be with us for a shared lunch to which you are invited. As usual offers of food will be gratefully accepted – just bring it in on the day – but for ease and to make sure we adhere to health and safety regulations we do ask that on this occasion you don’t bring anything that contains nuts or that needs either cooking or heating up.

Below is an extract from the BMS website which tells us more about Andrea and Mark Hotchkin.

Andrea and Mark are surgeons who work in an understaffed, under-resourced government hospital in Bardai in the Sahara Desert. Andrea specialises in obstetrics and gynaecology; Mark in emergency medicine.

The Hotchkins are two of our longest-serving mission workers. Their shared desire to see equality in healthcare first led them to Guinea, West Africa, where they worked for BMS for ten years, and later to N’Djamena, Chad’s capital, where they set up the BMS-supported hospital, Guinebor II.

Andrea and Mark Hotchkin learnt Arabic and the local Teda language to better equip them in their work. They share a love of music, reading, hill walking, camping, going to theatre and concerts. They have two children: Ruth and Rebecca.
