While we’ve been sweated our way through a summer of heatwaves, autumn has been creeping up on us. That’s why now seems the perfect time to post a reminder of Krys Gadd’s 2026 Craft Fair.

Knowing it as we do today, it’s hard to imagine that on the 4th of June 1955 when Moortown Baptist Church was officially opened only Phase one had been completed. That consisted of the present vestibule, the Church Hall, cloakrooms and the old kitchen.
As building work had gone more slowly than anticipated, prior to that, in fact from April 17th MBC’s first minister Rev. F.W. Bond had made arrangements for the church to worship in Moor Allerton Memorial Hall, which was then at the end of Stonegate Road. It is recorded that on that first Sunday, in our temporary home 70 people attended the morning service and 50 the evening.

The following day, Sunday June 5th, and even before the first of two services had begun there was at 10am MBC’s first Sunday School.
Like so many of the “memories” we have recently shared it seems to me that whilst over the last 70 or so years lots of things have changed, one thing that hasn’t is its underlying spirit of warmth, friendship and fellowship.
In its 66th issue, ENGAGE, the BMS World Mission magazine once again brings us news from all around the world.
For instance, amongst other stories there’s an update about the help your support has provided in Ukraine and there’s a similar report about Gaza, whereas the cover story takes us to Sierra Leone and tells the story of one church and three women.
