Jane is a Primary School Teacher with many years of experience in “tough” inner city Leeds schools. She is also a qualified social worker and Child Protection worker who has worked with the N.S.P.C.C. Social Services Departments and Family Services. In 2003 she completed the CELTA and TEFL qualifications in order to teach English as an additional language to adults and she has used this skill on several occasions when teaching in China in particular. Jane was accepted by B.M.S. as a short-term volunteer for work overseas. This involved spending up to 3 months each year in overseas mission and teaching work and then returning to Leeds to Supply Teaching in Primary Schools. Jane has been on several short term programmes with B.M.S.-Bangladesh, 2003; Kolcotta, India, 2003. Pepe Projects in Luanda, Angola ( 2006) and teaching in a Mission School in Herat, Afghanistan( 2007). Jane has taught on the Summer English Programme with Amity, a Chinese Christian Organisation for the past six summers and is due to lead a Team again in the summer of 2011.
She has had the opportunity to teach in Luzhou, Sichuan Province( 2005): Xingtang, Hebei Province( 2006 and 2007); Hua’ain City, Jiangsu Province(2008); Ma’Anshan, Anhui Province (2009) and Binyang, Guangxi Province (2010). Jane will return to China in July 2011 once again with Amity and Friends of the Church in China in order to lead a Team on the intensive Language Programme for Chinese Middle and High School Teachers –Teachers who are responsible for teaching English in their schools.
