Invite your friends (aimed at ages 5-11)

On Sunday November 5th (a day guaranteed to go with a bang!) our Childrens’ Worker Cas Stoodley and her team are launching what we are calling PULSE, a new and innovative programme which will not only reshape the way we currently do “Sunday School” but which via a mix of engaging take home material and Social Media will also draw in mums, dads, grandmas, granddads, carers et al as never before. 

Branded Think Orange the programme is based upon three basic truths: Wisdom, the need to make wise choices; Faith, the assurance that we can trust God no matter what and Friendship, the notion that we should all treat others the way we want to be treated. It also majors on one hundred and fifty bible stories and thirty Life Apps (i.e. a practical application). 

Each month there is a quite specific theme, in November that’s Gratitude. Within that theme there is always a Key Question – in week one for example that’s “What are you grateful for?” And to close there’s always a bottom line, again from week one that’s “Celebrate what God has done.” However, in between and in separate age groups there are any number of craft activities, games and teaching slots. 

Perhaps the biggest single difference to our current plan however is that each week (with the exception of our children who attend Bubbles) everyone starts and finishes off each session together. Indeed on the fourth week of the month we’re all actually planning to come back in to the sanctuary and through drama, song, story telling or maybe even film share with you some of the stuff we have been doing. 

A couple of weeks ago Cas organised a training session for the team, some pictures from which you see here. 

Please pray for this new venture; pray for Cas, her team and of course for our children and their families because as our training day proved the challenge is considerable but the potential, particularly in regard to family and community involvement is nothing short of enormous.

Meanwood Olympics:  23rd August. 11.30am to 2.30pm at Woodhouse Cricket Club, Meanwood Road, LS6 4AW. Free family fun days packed with games, crafts, dance, sports, music, competitions, races, bike rides and much more! Leaflets available at the back of church.

Messy Church is moving from Friday tea time to the 2nd Sunday of every month, starting on Sunday 10th September, 3pm – 4.30pm.

Right now we are looking for people to join our team. There are lots of ways you can help; welcome team, kitchen team, craft table, talking to people, helping to set up and/or pack down, worship, PA, prayer team.

Kidz Klub Leeds: You are invited to ‘Reaching the City’.

Last June, Moortown Baptist Church along with Riverside Church took 40 children (in Year 3-Year 10) away for a fun packed Christian weekend break run by Urban Saints.

It was a great weekend for the kids to worship with their friends, and learn about God in fun and engaging way.  Not only that but as part of the weekend at Holly Bush Farm in Thirsk there are huge inflatables, a silent disco, crafts, games and so much more.

This year we are planning on going again.  The weekend falls on the 23rd-25th of June and costs £55 per child.  That includes food and fun. If your child would like to come please let me know as soon as possible at cas.stoodley.mbc@btconnect.com.  It will be awesome!!

If you are interested in sleeping in a field and seeing God work in the lives of children – give me a call!!  Or maybe you can’t make it but you have a tent that can – all water-proof tents welcome.

Finally, if kids aren’t your thing but you are free on the Friday to put up lots of tents in a field you would be really welcome to join me!!

Above all please start praying now for the children who are coming – I already have 17 children on my list!

MBC is one of just thirty three UK churches chosen to trial a new, exciting outreach venture. Messy Church does Science is a project that builds on established programmes in order to bring a hands-on, 21st century approach to the link between a Christian understanding of Creation and science.

At Moortown our Children’s Worker, Cas Stoodley, and her Messy Church team set up five separate stations which in fifteen minute blocks each looked a different scientific activity.

As well as being asked to provide video and still images of the session volunteers and visitors were asked to fill in feedback forms which will soon be sent off to project organisers.

On Friday 17 February, during half term, we thought it would be nice for the children, young people, team and parents of all our groups to get together outside of church. The plan is to meet at Roundhay Park (in the car park near the top playground) at 10.45am and spend a couple of hours having fun together.
